The process started with the ECMT Conference held in 1953 with the participation of 16 countries after 1973; whereas, the ECMT Certificate commenced to be distributed upon the participation of many new member countries.  This certificate is being granted within the scope of new quotas which are specified in accordance with various criteria for different countries. The new member countries grant ECMT Permission Certificates at a certain degree to international road transportation companies on basis of the annual ranking made in accordance with country quotas and specific criteria. International road transportation and logistics companies conduct their international transportation activities with respect to their ECMT Permission Certificates.
