Mars Logistics, one of Türkiye’s leading logistics companies, has taken a significant step to expand its operational capacity while continuing its growth in rail and intermodal transport through new route investments. By launching two new rail routes—each connecting two different departure points to two distinct European destinations on the same day—the company has successfully executed an operation requiring high levels of planning and coordination.
Designed to serve different delivery regions with different types of equipment, the Halkalı–Luxembourg route uses 34 trailers to handle deliveries in France, Belgium, and Western Germany. The Kartepe–Duisburg route, meanwhile, carries 38 containers. This route, which passes through the Marmaray tunnel, facilitates deliveries to the Ruhr region. The routes will operate on a weekly round-trip schedule, with a delivery time of 8 days.
Erdin Erengül, Railway Asst. General Manager of Mars Logistics, commented on the matter, stating that: “Launching two distinct routes departing from two different origin points and heading to two separate destination points on the same day requires not only capacity but also operational expertise involving robust planning, coordination, and on-site control. With these routes, we are once again demonstrating our strength in rail and intermodal operations,”
Rail and intermodal transportation are among the most critical models in the logistics sector capable of balancing speed, cost, and environmental impact. With its structure that integrates different modes of transport, Mars Logistics provides operational flexibility while also offering a more efficient and predictable framework.
The company’s rail investments also form a key part of its sustainability goals. By optimizing road usage through intermodal solutions, Mars Logistics focuses on reducing carbon emissions and developing a more environmentally friendly logistics model. Erengül, who stated that they aim to promote lower-emission transportation models, said, “We position rail and intermodal transportation as a strategic priority. “With the new routes we’ve launched, we’re expanding our service network while offering our customers more sustainable and efficient solutions,”
In addition to these two new routes, Mars Logistics actively provides rail transport services on the Halkalı–Kolin, Halkalı–Craiova, Halkalı–Budapest, and Trieste–Bettembourg routes, managing a robust intermodal network between Europe and Türkiye.
